Are Parsons Paris and Parsons New York different programs?

PARSONS THE NEW SCHOOL OF DESIGN PARIS

No, it is the same program but you incorporate Paris into your studies instead of New York City.  This wonderful for the students because if they wanted to divide up their time between the two campus's they don't have jumble with their course level's or credits.  They had us at 'incorporate Paris into your studies'!

The BA degree programs are all taught in English!  It's an American school in France.  They do offer french language classes, which would be good to take on the side.
Parsons is located in the 1st arrondissement which means the students are in the heart of Paris near the Louvre, the Tuileries Palace Gardens, Notre Dame as well as countless other museums and studio's.
The Tuileries Palace to house the monarchy of France began construction in 1554, completed in 1866 and destroyed in the Paris Commune in 1871.  The Tuileries Gardens remain and back up to the courtyard of the Louvre Museum, which was also a palace for the ruling monarchy and government until Louis XIV moved to Versailles in 1682, bringing the government with him.  It remained the formal seat of the government until 1789 when the French Revolution ended the "Ancien Regime".  Did I mention our trip to Paris will be on Bastille Day?
Bastille Day is a holiday in France so no school tours that day.

Parsons Paris wants the students to be involved with the city so they will be attending ateliers - workshops and studios (yes, I had to look that up!)
Classes are small to foster collaboration and community.  Important in a large city.  The main building for classes is on the rue Saint-Roch in a historic building.
Course projects will bring the students into contact with the many creative companies, exhibits, and industry related events such as the Maison and Object Design Trade Show - and access to PARIS FASHION WEEK!

Paris Fashion Week is held in the Grand Palais

Orientation will include a boat ride on the Seine, a trip up the Eiffel Tower, a trip to Versilles, and a stroll down a market street 'Marche aux Puces'

Over the course of the year the students will have crepe parties, wine and cheese tasting, gallery openings and yoga classes!  I am guessing no gym to workout in - that's too American.. Also trips to Champagne and Monet's home in Giverny!

The first year is a basic fundamental not only with sewing and designing with studio time and seminars but for reading, writing, and critical thinking (that's what she's doing tomorrow for the SAT!)
In year two she will be developing a "holistic approach to fashion design".  Holistic: relating to or concerned with complete systems rather than dealing with individual parts".  My husband jokes "shirts and pants"!

I know, it's every angle, tools and technology to which a design becomes a garment.  At this point they want the students work to really reflect his/her point of view with an "emphasize on self reflection and discovery" as well as business classes to broaden their knowledge of the fashion market.
In the third and senior year the students will produce a thesis collection and graduate portfolio that will demonstrate his or her personal design philosophy.  I think with this thesis collection and a graduate portfolio makes you armed to enter the workforce.

Just like with the New York City campus, you need SAT's or ACT's, a 500 word personal statement, an optional letter of recommendation, a slide show portfolio of your best work, and take the "Parson's Challenge".  I don't know yet what it is this year but last year the students needed to make 3 - 5 pieces of art answering the question "what everyday normal thing do you (or everyone?) overlook on a daily basis."
well, that's not quite it - I don't ignore this guy, I just never see him eat  my garden - until I go out in the morning.
On our way home from being downtown DC we saw a good licence plate

It read "Je peux" which means "I can"!
