Report from London - Kingston University

KINGSTON UNIVERSITY VISIT
KINGSTON UPON THAMES

Mimi and her Dad had their visit England college visit - and Mimi liked it VERY much!  She like this town outside of London, it was larger than she expected so there is plenty of things to do.  But popping into London couldn't be a spontaneous thing.  Not too hard, just needs to be planned out.
Their tour guide was a young woman soon to be graduating with a degree in architecture but Mimi had a good conversation with a teacher in the Fashion Technology Department - she said everyone was very nice.  She really likes this school.
What impressed Mimi is that she could have access to any studio so long as she participates in a information session before hand.  Pratt has that as well - except you have to take a full course the subject to gain access.  If she wants to use the dark room to print her own picture
she can or if she wants to silk screen her own poster - she can!I think this a great way to honor that creative people ALWAYS dabble in other creative fields.  Don't you want these students to explore other fields?  I am a quilter by hobby, but I do a large variety of other crafts and watercolor art.  What creative doesn't?
She also found out the school has a knitting machine!
Probably a much larger one like on a professional level
They offer courses in knitwear so this looks like students can create an outfit from the ground up - very cool,

The campus is pretty much in one main building with the student housing dorms sprinkled around it.
It looks modern and new.  My reporter is tired, so that's the end of today's report.  Hey - she just landed yesterday!  I am hoping she'll get some of her pictures to me to share after a dinner break.  They got a little sight seeing in this morning and lunch before hopping a train from the Waterloo Station.  Their hotel is near Westminster Abby!
Mimi loved her visit!
I love that history is coming alive for her!  She was impressed with all the famous people buried here.  She visited the graves of Queen Elizabeth I, Mary Queen of Scots, Issac Newton  Charles Dickens and Lewis CarrollTom and Mimi finished up their sight seeing morning with avocado, tomato, cheese and bacon sandwiches from a food truck and ate them with Tower of London
   views!
I am so happy for Mimi!
