Visiting Mimi's Grandmother
in New Jersey
F.I.T. tour on Monday
It is so nice to take a break - Mimi and I are exhausted! Lucky for us, my mother in law lives about an hour outside of New York City in a lovely township called Chester.
Which is a historical, quaint town for visiting and antique shopping. Strolling down Main Street, sipping ice cream sodas - it's a great place to de-pressurize. Mimi's older sister and her boyfriend are visiting from Arizona, so while we are helping Mimi's Grandmother with cell phone service, internet connections, Facebook, etc - and just down right relaxing, my older daughter is doing some sight seeing with her boyfriend. Not only are they both history teachers, but the young man has never been to the New York area. Shortly after we arrived yesterday, they went with Omi to visit Jockey Hollow - George Washington's camp here in New Jersey!
From all of their sight seeing in Washington DC and now here, the two of them are gathering materials and taking pictures to add to their American History curriculum. Today they took our van and are visiting the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
I hope they make it up to the crown - it's a glorious weather day!
Our family has been here many times while visiting the grandparents but it must be so exciting for Corey to be seeing these things for the first time!
While on Ellis Island, you can look up to see if family came through Ellis Island to enter the United States.
Mimi and I are happy to just stay put this time! Beautiful day, books to read, even a little too chilly to swim!
This is just what we needed to recharge. In the morning - it's Charge to New York! After breakfast, everyone but our Omi will take the train to Penn Station
Wish it still looked like that...
Even though our tour at the Fashion Institute of Technology is not until 12 noon, getting as early a start after rush hour will ensure that our visitors from Arizona get to see as much as they can. Our tour is for two hours, so either it's a going to be a large presentation or they have a spread out campus - or a bit of both.
Don't worry about Mimi and I! We will be on Fashion Avenue shopping, browsing, and stopping for pizza or a good deli sandwich for lunch. Time for me to look up the address for Mood - as seen on Project Runway!
Maybe we'll see the iconic button for our buttoning up blog! But for today, it's back to a beautiful, restful, visiting the wonderful Omi day!
Pam
